| posted: 3/22/2006 at 10:24:54 PM ET There is a post on All That Chat that states Sondheim is currently in L.A. in "important talks." The poster surmises he is there to discuss the Sweeney Todd movie. Does anyone else find it interesting that Bernadette was in L.A. the week before perhaps also for "important talks" about the same project. At least that is my dream.
BERNADETTE FOR MRS LOVETT!

Why don't you raise this thought with those helpful and oh-so-friendly folks at *finishing.the.chat*
(Gee, and I thought Bern was in LA to take refresher driver lessons)

Are Tim Burton and Johnny Depp still involved with the movie? I know Johnny Depp was at Sweeney Todd not too long ago.
Oooh....doggone it, Moljul! I have enough on my mind as it is!

Casting--I have no idea except for Bernadette.

I love Johnny Depp but while he is good at quirky, I'm not sure he would be fierce enough although he looks really scary in the trailer for his new movie.

| posted: 3/23/2006 at 2:10:26 PM ET I'm not a big fan of Russell Crowe but he has been mentioned a lot. I think he would play too young against Bernadette and of course the main object of this little thread is to have Bernadette play Lovett. I also don't see Harrison Ford as being right either and I don't believe he sings. Christopher Walken would be the right type but I also don't believe he sings. His dancing skills wouldn't get much use in Sweeney Todd. Some have mentioned Kevin Kline or Kevin Spacey both of which I like and they both sing.

From: NYC | posted: 3/23/2006 at 2:28:55 PM ET Both Kevins would be interesting ...I'm not a big fan of either but the role is what counts. I think it won't matter about age because historically on Broadway, the actresses playing Mrs. Lovett have been at least 10 years older than the actor playing Sweeney.

| posted: 3/23/2006 at 5:45:45 PM ET Spacey is actually a pretty good singer. I don't know what kind of voice training he actually has, but he might could pull it off. He can certainly do the demented/troubled/angry character thing.
I'm thinking Terry Gilliam for director (!).

They could reunite 25 years after PFH. Whether it could actually happen is another story. He has a good voice though

Richard Gere, or,
Hugh Jackman
Both my favorites for this, or anything.
Actually I can see Kevin Spacey as Sweeney--he strikes me as a very cold and calculating guy.
